Eng without a captain today? Buttler set to miss 3rd T20I.

Buttler and His Wife

Jos Buttler played a key role in England’s victory over Pakistan in the 2nd T20I at Edgbaston. He is set to miss the 3rd T20I due to his wife expecting their third child.

The England captain Buttler and his wife Louise are expecting the birth of their child. According to sources, Buttler left for London from Cardiff after sealing a comfortable win against Pakistan in the 2nd T20I.

The third Twenty20 International between England and Pakistan is slated for Tuesday evening. Notably, Jos Buttler did not attend England’s training session in Cardiff on Monday afternoon.

Additionally, it’s unclear if Buttler will be back in time for the last Twenty20 International match against Pakistan; but, as things stand, he’ll probably travel with the England team on Friday as they depart for the West Indies in preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Moeen Ali, the vice-captain of England and the team’s leader for 12 ODIs and T20Is, earlier said that nothing will change if he takes over as captain of the team in Jos Buttler’s absence.

“I think I’ve done enough to qualify for England,” Moeen remarked.

“I’ll be fine. Nothing will change too much, it’s just taking over from what he’s doing, and then when he comes back, he takes over.

“Hopefully, the baby comes at the right time so he doesn’t miss too many games.

“For me, it’s just whatever will happen, will happen. It’s not really difficult, to be honest with you, because we speak often, me and Jos. We talk about other things, the team, and all that. We’re on the same page anyway.”

The 3rd T20I between Pakistan and England will be played today. The final T20I is on the 30th of May in Oval.
