India won their opening match of the T20 World Cup, thumping Ireland by eight wickets. Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field, as the Indian bowlers united to bowl out Ireland for a meager total of 96.
The best bowler was Hardik Pandya who claimed three wickets for 27 runs, followed by Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah, who each claimed two wickets. Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj each claimed a wicket in the interim.
India was in control of the chase thanks to Rohit’s 52 off 37, and they eventually made it home in 12.2 overs. After getting hurt during batting, Rohit was forced to retire.
The amazing moment which seized the hearts of fans was, Rishabh Pants switch hit to win the match. He returned to International Cricket after a very severe accident. Seeing Rishabh play like that was a heartwarming moment.
