T20 World Cup: Windies thrashed Uganda by 134 runs.

Chasing 174, Uganda was bowled out on 39, the joint-lowest team score ever at the T20 World Cup. Akeal Hosein claimed 5 wickets for 11 runs.

 

In the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, the West Indies crushed Uganda on Sunday at Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana, by a mammoth margin of 134 runs.

 

Uganda was bowled out for just 39 runs in 12 overs, the joint-lowest team total in the men’s T20 World Cup, after they had set a goal of 174 runs. In Chattogram 2014, the Netherlands was also eliminated by the same score against Sri Lanka.

In just four overs, left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein captured five wickets for just 11 runs, capping a stunning spell. In addition, he won Player of the Match.

 

In a men’s T20 World Cup innings, Hosein became the first bowler from the West Indies to take five wickets.

 

In three overs, Alzarri Joseph contributed as well, taking two wickets for six runs.

 

Juma Miyagi, Uganda’s tailender, was the only player to reach double figures with 13 unbroken runs in 20 balls.

 

Earlier, the West Indies chose to bat first against Uganda after winning the toss. The Windies, batting first, completed their 20 overs with a score of 173-5.

 

With four fours and two sixes, Johnson Charles amassed the highest score of 44 runs in 42 balls.

 

In a brief appearance, Andre Russell scored 30 runs on 17 balls, including six fours.

 

Brian Masaba, the captain of Uganda, was the standout bowler, with figures of 2-31 in four overs.
