T20 World Cup 2024: SA remains undefeated at the WC

SA VS ENG

SA registered a close victory over the defending champions England. Chasing 163, England were short of 7 runs despite Brook’s brilliant half-century.

In their Group, 2 Super-8 match at the T20 World Cup 2024 in Gros Islet, St Lucia, on Friday, South Africa held off a late England charge thanks to a brilliant fifty from Quinton de Kock and a valiant response from the bowlers to the task of defending a low score.

A brilliant 19th over by Marco Jansen left a lot at the end for England. They needed 14 runs in the last over where a slow ball deceived Harry Brooks who was standing firm on the crease. A brilliant backward running catch from Aiden Markram ended Brook’s inning. Sam Curran was left alone with a lot to do which he failed at the end.

Despite De Kock’s 38-ball fifty-five, England had done well to restrict South Africa to 163/6, but they were beaten despite a valiant effort by Harry Brook (53), Liam Livingstone (33), and others. In the end, they were 156 for six.

SA is yet to be defeated in this T20 World Cup 2024. They have now won 6 matches straight after a 3-0 whitewash from the WI.
