The Chairman PCB, Mohsin Naqvi did a press conference on Thursday. He said that the future plan would be decided by meeting with the former players and head Coach Gary Kristen. But do they want to keep Babar Azam as the Pakistan team skipper?
Decision on Babar Azam’s Captaincy
On the topic of keeping Babar Azam as the captain of the Pakistan team, he said: “No decision has been made on Azam’s captaincy as yet.” In response to the national team’s disastrous T20 World Cup performance, Naqvi stated he will shortly meet with head coach Kirsten and his assistant Azhar Mahmood. However, he declined to make any snap decisions. Before being eliminated from the recently finished T20 World Cup in the Super 8 stage after crushing defeats to India and the United States, Naqvi had criticized the Pakistani team and called for a “major surgery” on the team.

“I have asked them to come here as I want to talk to them in person and detail based on Kirsten’s report on the World Cup,” He said to the media.
“Kirsten has given a very detailed report on the team and it will help us a lot to chalk out our future course of action.”
“No decision taken so far related to Babar Azam. One former player has submitted a very comprehensive report on what needs to be done to improve cricket. But I will take no decisions out of anger or based on what is being said on social media.”
“Decisions taken out of haste and anger generally lead to more complications and I don’t want that in our cricket,” he added.
“I have been in the board for four months and I am looking at everything and believe me there is a lot to be done to improve things within the PCB besides the team. But I don’t want to jump to conclusions and make hasty decisions.” He commented on the situation of PCB.
