Waqar Younis, the former Pakistani fast bowler and head coach met PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Monday. Reports claim that he will soon get a role.
In recent developments, Waqar Younis who resigned as the bowling coach of the Pakistan cricket team after the 2019 World Cup Mishap is set to be appointed to a major role in the Pakistan Cricket Board. He met the PCB chairman on Monday to discuss about his involvement in the recent board setup.
After the premature elimination of the Pakistan Cricket Team from the T20 World Cup 2024, there were rumors of complete surgery in the system. The rumors are now turning into reality as we are expecting major changes in Central Contracts, the test squad, and the board as well. In that case, the PCB chairman is persistent in appointing the former bowling coach Waqar Younis. But in which role?
According to the report, Waqar Younis is likely to be made the chief advisor to Chairman Naqvi. Geo News Reported, “Younis will look over cricket-related affairs whereas PCB chief Naqvi, who also has to fulfill his responsibilities as the country’s interior minister, will focus on administrative matters of the board including those related to the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy.”
Let’s hope it goes well as we always try people who have already been tried before.
