“Not in a position to advise” Salman Butt on Waqar’s hiring 

Waqar Younis has recently been appointed as the Chief Advisor to the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Salman Butt reacts to it in an interview conducted by Cricket Pakistan.

 

The former Captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team, Salman Butt recently expressed his thought on making Waqar Younis the Chief Advisor to the PCB Chairman. There are lots of talks as Waqar’s track record suggests the opposite.

Appointment of Waqar Younis: Is Naqvi making a mistake?

In an interview conducted by Cricket Pakistan, Salman Butt said: “Waqar bhai has been my coach and is a legendary cricketer, there is no doubt about that. I am not in a position to advise him, I wish him all the very best for this role.”

 

On the other hand, Salman Butt also talked about what kind of challenges Waqar can face during this tenure as a Chief Advisor.

 

“I hope this time around he makes some decisions. He should do what is necessary and get it done. I think he should make correct decisions; if he has the vision, implement it,” he further said.

Former left-handed opener Salman Butt also backed the plan of complete surgery to be made by the PCB. He said we need some bold decisions for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket.

 

He ended up saying, “Don’t go after people who have been there for ages and have done nothing. I think it’s a huge opportunity for him, not an easy one certainly. If he can make correct decisions, something better might come up.”
