PCB failed to find a single bidder who can pay the reserve price.

The PCB needed a broadcasting partner for the jam-packed home season. For which they adjusted a reserve price of 3.2 Bn Rupees.

The PCB sold away its broadcasting rights in Pakistan from August 2024 to December 2026 for only Rs1.72 Bn, which is Rs1.48 Bn less than its reserve price of Rs 3.2 Bn. The PCB stated last week that the consortium of ARY and Tower Sports had been awarded the broadcast rights “for all home international cricket” during the period in question.

The PCB stated that the rights were given “following a transparent tender process” for the 28-month season, which would see Pakistan host 11 Tests, including seven Tests in the 2024-25 season, 26 ODIs, and 24 T20 Internationals. The current and upcoming seasons will feature two three-nation ODI series.

According to some sources in PCB, despite federal communications minister Atta Tarar exerting utmost pressure and influence to secure PTV’s rights, the PCB bid committee granted them to the highest bidder. (Source: Dawn News)
