Zaheer Abbas has suggested dropping Babar Azam from the team. Babar Azam has also put his resignation from the white ball captain of Pakistan Cricket team.
The position of Babar Azam in the Pakistan cricket team has come under fire after cricketing icon Zaheer Abbas publicly advocated for his removal from the squad due to a protracted downturn in play.
Zaheer Abbas, known as the “Asian Bradman” for his exceptional batting feats, spoke at the Cricket Predicta Conclave in Ajman, UAE, to commemorate the 100th episode of the worldwide cricket talk show.
“Babar Azam should be dropped from the team,” Zaheer Abbas stated. “If he’s not scoring runs, because if he’s our main batsman and he’s out of form, he should be out of the team.”
His comments come after Babar’s dismal performances in Pakistan’s last Test series against Bangladesh, in which he scored 0, 22, 11, and 31 in four innings. Pakistan lost the series, and Babar’s decline in form has resulted in him being dropped from the ICC top ten batter rankings for the first time in several years.
The decline in Babar’s form has sparked worries following Pakistan’s early withdrawal from the 2024 T20 World Cup, as they were defeated by both the United States and India, resulting in group stage elimination.
