Pakistan vs England

Pakistan vs England: Pakistan clinched a 2-1 Test series triumph over England with a thumping nine-wicket win in the third and final Test in Rawalpindi, demonstrating their spin bowling mastery. This series victory, Pakistan’s first at home since 2021 and their first over England since 2015, demonstrates the country’s developing superiority in spin-friendly conditions and takes them up one spot in the ICC World Test Championship 2025 table, where they now rank seventh, just behind England.

In the third Pakistan vs England test, Pakistan’s spin pair of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan repeated their outstanding performance from the second Test in Multan. The pair, who have taken 39 of 40 wickets in the last two matches, have again shredded England’s batting lineup. In the first innings, Sajid Khan captured 6/128 – his third five-wicket haul in Tests – and Noman Ali got 3/88, removing England’s openers. This early bowling effort limited England to a modest total of 267 runs, despite noteworthy contributions from Jamie Smith, who struck a resolute 89, and Gus Atkinson’s tenacious 39 down the order.

Pakistan’s answer with the bat was led by a remarkable century by Saud Shakeel, who hit 134 runs to help an otherwise erratic batting lineup. Shakeel’s performance helped Pakistan go ahead by 77 runs, laying the groundwork for the team’s second innings.

In England’s second innings, the spin attack became more aggressive. The English hitters battled to handle Noman and Sajid’s unrelenting bowling, as they sought to extract turn and bounce from the Rawalpindi pitch. By the close of the second day, England had lost three important wickets, with only 88 more runs arriving the next morning. England’s innings finished with 112 runs, their second-lowest total against Pakistan in Test cricket. Surprisingly, Pakistani spinners took all 20 of England’s wickets throughout both innings, highlighting Pakistan’s excellent spin resources. This was also the first occasion in Pakistan’s Test history that speed bowlers didn’t bowl a single delivery, highlighting the home team’s reliance.

The series victory under Shan Masood’s guidance not only marks a historic milestone for Pakistan cricket, but it also boosts their position in the ICC World Test Championship rankings. This result comes as a big boost after Pakistan’s dismal innings and 47-run defeat in the first Test, demonstrating the team’s tenacity and adaptability.

The historic win will definitely provide Pakistan a boost as they continue their World Test Championship quest and prepare for fresh challenges.
