IPL 2025 Playoffs: RCB Seal 2nd Spot
With the league stage now complete, IPL 2025 Playoffs teams are confirmed now. After Royal Challengers Bangalore’s brilliant win over Lucknow Super Giants, the picture became crystal clear. The four teams in the playoffs are:
- Punjab Kings (PBKS)
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
- Gujarat Titans (GT)
- Mumbai Indians (MI)
Delh Capitals missed out with just one point behind Mumbai Indians.
RCB: Strong Start, Strong Finish
RCB had one of their most consistent seasons in years. A strong opening followed by a few mid-season hiccups didn’t stop them from roaring back. Their final game saw them chase down a tricky total with authority against LSG, locking the 2nd spot.
- Points: 19 (9 wins)
- NRR: +0.301
Top performers:
- Virat Kohli – anchored the innings in several matches
- Phil Salt – explosive starts in the powerplay
- Bowling Unit: Steady support across matches
Despite having the same points as PBKS, RCB finished 2nd due to a slightly lower net run rate.
Punjab Kings: Iyer’s Leadership Sparks a New Era
PBKS topped the table with 9 wins and consistent performances throughout the season. The biggest turnaround factor was Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, which brought tactical discipline and belief to the squad.
Top Performers:
- Shreyas Iyer – calm leadership and clutch knock
- Priyansh Arya – a young talent who impressed throughout
The Kings finally look like a balanced unit ready to break their playoff curse.
Gujarat Titans: Gill, Sudharsan & Buttler Deliver Again
GT finished 3rd with 18 points. They weren’t as dominant as in previous seasons but still remained consistent enough to be a threat in the playoffs.
- Shubman Gill – leading from the front
- Sai Sudharsan – matured with some key innings
- Jos Buttler – played a couple of match-winning knocks to keep GT afloat
Their batting depth and bowling variety remain dangerous in knockout games.
Mumbai Indians: Classic Comeback Mode Activated
MI started the season poorly but stormed back in typical Mumbai fashion. A series of must-win games were conquered with swagger, pushing them to 4th spot over Delhi.
- Suryakumar Yadav – explosive returns to form
- Rohit Sharma – led with intent in key moments
- Jasprit Bumrah – brilliant with the ball, especially at the death
- Tilak Varma and Tim David also chipped in during tight games
With their experience, MI remains a dangerous dark horse in the playoffs.
Delhi Capitals Fall Short
DC managed 15 points but just couldn’t hold their nerve in crunch situations. A tough end to an otherwise promising season.
