Pak vs. Eng 3rd T20I was scheduled yesterday in Cardiff. The match was abandoned without a ball bowled. The 4th T20I is scheduled to play on the 30th of May.
Following a match that was abandoned in Cardiff on Tuesday night due to heavy rain, England and Pakistan will be going to the T20 World Cup with little preparation for the game. Only 39.2 of the 120 scheduled overs have been bowled thus far in the series, marking the second abandonment following the weather-related cancellation of Wednesday’s series opener in Leeds.
If the game had gone place, Moeen Ali would have captained England instead of captain Jos Buttler, who did not travel to Cardiff. After England’s 23-run victory in Birmingham on Saturday night, Buttler left the team to spend time with his wife Louise in London. The couple is soon to welcome their third child.
Tuesday morning started off with a lot of rain in Cardiff and stayed that way for the majority of the day. A sold-out crowd was disappointed when umpires Mike Burns and Russell Warren abandoned the match at 8:12 p.m. after it had stopped momentarily in the afternoon and returned at 5:15 p.m.
The fourth T20I is scheduled to play on the 30th of May at the Oval.
