Multan and Chennai Out of Playoffs in Shocking Exit

MS & CSK

Multan Sultans and Chennai Super Kings Miss Playoffs 2025

Two of the biggest T20 franchises faced a tough reality this year. Multan Sultans and Chennai Super Kings, known for dominance, are out of the playoffs. Their 2025 campaigns ended earlier than expected, and both teams have major questions to answer.

Multan Sultans Out of PSL Playoffs for First Time

Multan Sultans were one of the most consistent PSL sides. They had played three consecutive finals before this season. However, things did not go their way in 2025.

Multan’s batting lineup failed under pressure in key games. Even experienced players like Rizwan could not fire consistently. Their bowlers had some good spells but lacked support at the other end.

Multan also struggled with team balance and depth. Injuries made it worse. They lost close games that cost them points. It is the first time they did not reach the playoffs since their rise.

Chennai Super Kings Suffer Rare IPL Collapse

Chennai Super Kings are five-time IPL champions. But 2025 was a season to forget. For the first time ever, CSK missed playoffs in two back-to-back seasons.

They had a poor start, losing eight out of ten matches. The batting looked slow and outdated in today’s fast-paced format. Their run rate was the lowest in the competition.

Injuries to key players hurt them badly. Ruturaj Gaikwad missed matches due to fitness issues. MS Dhoni returned as captain mid-season, but the damage was done.

The team lacked firepower at the death. Middle-order collapses became common. Their bowling attack also struggled in crunch moments.

A Wake-Up Call for Both Teams

Multan Sultans and Chennai Super Kings are fan favorites. But their 2025 exits show how competitive T20 cricket has become. Teams must adapt and evolve fast.

These setbacks can spark big changes ahead. New tactics, better fitness, and stronger squads are needed. Fans will hope for a strong comeback in 2026.
