MI Outclassed SRH by 4 wickets – Will Jacks Shines

Match 33 of the Indian Premier League 2025 saw the Mumbai Indians continue their resurgence as they outclassed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 wickets in a low-scoring encounter played on a challenging surface at the Wankhede Stadium. MI captain Hardik won the toss and chose to bowl first — a decision that proved spot on, as the pitch offered variable bounce and grip from the get-go. SRH’s innings never really took off, with openers struggling to find fluency. While Travis Head crawled to 28 off 29 balls, it was Abhishek Sharma who showed real grit and intent, scoring a fighting 40 from just 28 deliveries.

Henrich Klaasen added some much-needed momentum in the middle overs, contributing a valuable 37 off 28 balls before Jasprit Bumrah removed him. Will Jacks starred with the ball, claiming 2/14 in his 3-over, while Bumrah and Boult chipped in with a wicket each. SRH ended their innings at 162/5 — a competitive score given the testing surface, but one that still looked below-par.

In response, Mumbai Indians began confidently. The experienced Rohit Sharma looked in sublime touch during his 26 off 16, and Ryan Rickelton supported well with a composed 31 off 23. SuryaKumar Yadav played a flashy cameo, racing to 26 off 15 balls to keep the momentum going.

Despite regular breakthroughs by SRH — with Pat Cummins leading from the front, claiming 3/26 in his four overs and Eshan Malinga taking two scalps — the total proved insufficient. Tilak Varma anchored one end while Hardik Pandya unleashed a blitzkrieg, smashing 21 off just 9 balls to seal the game with 11 balls to spare.Mumbai Indians chased down the target comfortably at 166/6 in 18.1 overs, showcasing their depth and balance even on a pitch that tested batters to the core.

The star of the night was undoubtedly Will Jacks, whose game-changing bowling spell set the tone for MI’s win. His controlled aggression with the ball and smart bowling earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award.

WILL JACKS

With this victory, Mumbai Indians strengthen their position in the IPL 2025 standings, while Sunrisers Hyderabad are left to reflect on missed opportunities with the bat. A thrilling contest, but one that Mumbai owned from start to finish.
