Pakistan overpower UAE in Tri-Series clash

Pakistan overpower UAE to claim their second straight win in the tri-nation T20 series. The Men in Green defeated the hosts by 31 runs in Dubai on 31st August 2025. After posting a challenging 207/6, Pakistan held their nerve with the ball to maintain an unbeaten start in the tournament.

Pakistan overpower UAE with strong batting display

Saim Ayub sets the tone early

Pakistan decided to bat first after winning the toss. Openers approached the innings with aggressive intent. Left-hander Saim Ayub looked in sparkling touch. He smashed 69 off 38 balls, combining elegant strokes with powerful hits. His fluent batting ensured Pakistan kept momentum throughout the powerplay.

Hasan Nawaz continues his rise

At the other end, youngster Hasan Nawaz displayed remarkable confidence. He blasted 56 from only 26 deliveries. His fearless strokeplay during the middle overs frustrated UAE’s bowlers. With each boundary, he confirmed his growing reputation as Pakistan’s next batting star.

Cameos boost total beyond 200

The middle order chipped in with useful cameos. Mohammad Nawaz struck 25 from 15 balls, accelerating towards the end. Pakistan crossed 200 comfortably, finishing on 207/6. Although UAE’s bowlers picked up wickets, they leaked runs in crucial phases. Muhammad Saghir Khan (3/44) and Junaid Siddique (3/49) bowled with energy but lacked control under pressure.

UAE fight but Pakistan overpower UAE with the ball

Muhammad Waseem provides early spark

Chasing 208, UAE needed a strong start. Skipper Muhammad Waseem delivered with a quickfire 33 off 18 balls. He attacked Pakistan’s seamers and gave the crowd some hope. Yet, his dismissal halted momentum and allowed Pakistan’s bowlers to regroup.

Asif Khan’s brilliant counterattack

The standout moment of UAE’s innings was Asif Khan’s remarkable knock. He hammered 77 runs from just 35 balls. His clean hitting thrilled the fans and briefly kept the chase alive. At one stage, he looked capable of pulling off an upset. However, the lack of support from teammates left him stranded. UAE’s middle and lower order failed to rotate strike or build partnerships.

Target proves too steep

Despite Asif’s heroics, UAE could only manage 176/8 in 20 overs. They fell 31 runs short of the target. The result underlined the difference in experience between the two sides.

Pakistan Bowling strikes at crucial moments

Pakistan missed Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf but still delivered a solid bowling display. Veteran Hasan Ali led the attack with three wickets. He conceded 47 runs but struck in the death overs, preventing UAE from closing the gap. All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz bowled an excellent spell in the middle overs. His figures of 2/21 in four overs kept the required rate climbing. He mixed flight and accuracy effectively, stopping UAE’s progress.

Saim Ayub contributed with the ball as well. He bowled two overs for just six runs and picked up a wicket. His all-round show highlighted his increasing value to Pakistan’s T20 setup.

Captains reflect after Pakistan overpower UAE

Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha praised his batters for setting up the match. He admitted, however, that the team must improve death bowling. He particularly highlighted Hasan Nawaz’s maturity, calling him a player with immense promise.

UAE captain Muhammad Waseem acknowledged Asif Khan’s superb innings. He admitted his team conceded 15–20 runs too many. He stressed the need for sharper bowling plans in upcoming fixtures.

The Player of the Match went to Saim Ayub for his all-round performance. The young opener expressed delight at contributing in both departments. He emphasized the importance of consistency and teamwork in international cricket.

What comes next in the Tri-Series?

Pakistan’s back-to-back victories place them at the top of the Tri-Series table. Their balanced performances show strong intent ahead of future tournaments. UAE, despite the defeat, gained positives from Asif Khan’s explosive knock. They will next face Afghanistan on 1st September at the same venue.
