Shamar Joseph, Seales Destroy Aussie Batting in Barbados Test

Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales destroyed Aus Batting

Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales Humble Australia in Barbados Test

Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales destroyed Australian batting on Day 1 of the first Test at Barbados. With no Steve Smith or Marnus Labuschagne in the line-up, Australia collapsed to 180 all out in 56.5 overs. West Indies, are also struggling at 57/4, trailing by 123 runs.

Early Wickets Set the Tone

Sam Konstas fell early for 3, trapped by Shamar Joseph. Cameron Green followed for 3, caught off Shamar again. The Aussie top order crumbled as Josh Inglis went for 5, and Usman Khawaja’s patient 47 came to an end at 111/4.

Travis Head’s Resistance Not Enough

Travis Head looked solid, scoring 59 off 78 balls with 9 fours. But the rest of the batting failed to offer support. Beau Webster made 11, Alex Carey 8, and Mitchell Starc failed to score. Captain Pat Cummins smashed 28 off just 18 balls, but it was short-lived.

Jayden Seales Rips Through Tail

Jayden Seales claimed five wickets in a brilliant 15.5-over spell. He removed Inglis, Carey, Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood. He ended with figures of 5 for 60, while Shamar Joseph supported brilliantly with 4 for 46 in 16 overs.

No Smith, No Labuschagne Hurts Australia

The absence of experienced batters like Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne clearly hurt Australia. Usman Khawaja tried to anchor the innings, but without support, the team couldn’t reach even 200. Their total of 180 is now under threat, with West Indies aiming to build a lead.

West Indies Start Shaky but Ahead

In reply, West Indies managed 57 for 4 in 20 overs. Australian bowlers struck back, but the visitors still hold an advantage with a first-innings lead in sight.

Scorecard Snapshot

  • Australia 1st Innings – 180 all out
  • Travis Head – 59 (78)
  • Usman Khawaja – 47 (128)
  • Pat Cummins – 28 (18)
  • Jayden Seales – 5/60 (15.5)
  • Shamar Joseph – 4/46 (16)
  • West Indies 1st Innings – 57/4 (20)
  • Still trail by 123 runs
Conclusion: Day 1 Belongs to West Indies

Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales destroyed the Australian batting on a lively Barbados pitch. Without Smith and Labuschagne, the Aussies looked unsettled. Although Australia fought back with four wickets, West Indies finished the day ahead. If the hosts can build a solid lead, this match could see a major upset brewing.
