Shimron Hetmyer smashes the stumps in despair during the qualifier 2 between SRH and RR. But what is the need to do such a thing? Let’s find out why he did that.
“Shimron Hetmyer of the Rajasthan Royals has been fined 10 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on May 24,” stated the BCCI.
Javagal Srinath, a former Indian pacer who officiated the second qualifier, handed down the punishment. “According to IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.2, Hetmyer committed a Level 1 offense. He acknowledged the offense and consented to the Match Referee’s punishment. The decision made by the Match Referee is final and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, according to BCCI.

Reason for the punishment
The incident happened in the second qualifier of the ongoing IPL 2024. The fourth ball of the over was bowled flat by Abhishek after he altered his length. The ball was propelled from the playing surface. Shimron Hetmyer was unable to determine the ball’s pace. The West Indies batsman brought down his bat far too late. He ended his miserable stay in the middle when the ball crashed into his off stump.
Shimron Hetmyer was really upset. He scored four runs off ten balls and attempted to use his bat to get the wickets before making the long walk back to the pavilion.
RR was doomed after that wicket. Dhruv Jurel made a valiant effort, but they were defeated by 36 runs, allowing SRH to move on to the final.
