South Africa has ended Afghanistan’s dream run in the semifinals by 9 wickets. They have reached the T20 World Cup Final for the first time.
With a remarkable display of pace bowling, South Africa erased the miserable semifinal curse and defeated an anxious Afghanistan by nine wickets to advance to their first-ever T20 World Cup final in Trinidad.
The Afghans will walk home with their heads held high following an inspiring run in the tournament, and SA will face the winners of the second semifinal between India and England for the championship.
After being summoned to bowl, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje with bowling figures of (3/16), (2/14), and (2/7), tore the soul out of the Afghanistan top order, bundling them out for a pitiful 56 in just 11.5 overs.
In return, SA chased down this easy target in just 8.5 overs with 9 wickets in hand to reach their first final of the T20 World Cup.
The second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024 will be played tonight in Guyana between the defending champions England and the unbeatable India.
