Pakistan defeated Canada by seven wickets in New York on Tuesday to eventually record their first victory of the T20 World Cup 2024.
In 20 overs, Pakistan’s bowlers demonstrated their toughness by holding Canada to 106/7. Haris Rauf and Mohammad Amir took two wickets apiece for Pakistan, while Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf each took one wicket. On Tuesday, Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group A match in New York saw them chase down the target in 17.3 overs.
Having lost two games against the USA and then against arch-rivals India, the Babar Azam-led side needed to beat Canada to have a chance to enter the Super 8 phase. Even now, Pakistan would need other teams’ results to go their way to advance.
