SA was 150 for 4 after 16 overs but Hardik’s out-swinging ball got the better of Klaasen in the 17th. From there on India took the T20 World Cup final from SA
Rohit was in tears. Hardik’s eyes filled with tears. The coach, Rahul Dravid who hardly ever expresses himself jumps out from his chair as India won the T20 World Cup final after 17 years wait.
South Africa was in complete control of the game till the 16th over. Miller and Klaasen were hitting the ball out of the park. The win predictor was showing a 3% chance of India’s victory. That is where the Indian Bowlers stood up. That is what the champion team does. Hardik bowled the ball out of Henrich Klaasen’s range as he tried to hit over the extra cover but failed and the ball edged to the spectacular Rishabh Pant.
Then came the majestic Bumrah, who is in the form of his life, over number 18. He bowled the newly arrived Marco Jansen with an in-swinging ball. From there on India were never going back and they lifted the T20 World Cup final Trophy after 17 years long wait.
Earlier, India won the toss and decided to bring themselves on to bat first. Rohit hit 2 fours but got out early. It was all about Kohli’s innings as he scripted and handled the India innings with the help of Axar Patel’s quick-fire 47 off 31. Kohli scored 76 off 59 and Shivam played a brisk knock of 27 hitting two sixes in the T20 World Cup final which helped India reach a fighting total of 176.
Hard Luck for South Africa as they were playing their first T20 World Cup final in these 17 years of T20 history. They choked again but this time in the final.
Virat Kohli was declared MOM for his 76 runs. And Bumrah became the POT for his brilliant spells of bowling. India are the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Champions.
