IU poor fielding & Hassan’s fighting knock powered QG to victory

In a gripping PSL 2025 contest at Lahore, QG pulled off a stunning 2-wicket win over Islamabad United, finishing the chase with just one ball left. Hassan Nawaz turned out to be the match-winner, guiding his team to 159/8 after Islamabad had posted 157/9.

IU Batting: Decent Total, Missed Momentum

Islamabad United posted 157/9 in their 20 overs. Mohammad Nawaz was the standout performer with a crucial 49 off 34 balls. Sahibzada Farhan added 39 from 24 deliveries, while Kyle Mayers chipped in with 22.

QG bowlers kept it tight throughout. Salman Irshad and Naseem Shah picked two wickets each, both returning figures of 2/31. Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel also played their part.

QG Chase: Hassan Nawaz Steals the Show

Chasing 158, Quetta faced early hiccups. Rilee Rossouw scored a steady 27, and Finn Allen added a quick 20. But wickets kept falling, leaving them at 143/8 after 19 overs. Quetta needed 15 runs from the final 6 balls. Hassan Nawaz, who was anchoring the innings, stood firm. Islamabad United dropped three catches of him in the last over—costly mistakes that would prove fatal.

Final Over Drama: Sixes, Drops, and Glory

With two wickets in hand, Hassan Nawaz kept his cool. He smashed two massive sixes in the final over and ended unbeaten on 64 off 41 balls, securing the win with just one delivery to spare. This thrilling finish lifted Quetta fans to their feet and left Islamabad ruing their missed chances. Hassan’s composure and Islamabad’s sloppy fielding made all the difference in a game that went down to the wire.

QG topped points table

After this victory, Quetta has climbed to the top of the PSL 2025 points table with 11 points. Islamabad United, despite winning five consecutive matches earlier, have now lost their last three and sit just behind Quetta with 10 points. The tournament is reaching an exciting climax, with thrilling encounters and nail-biting finishes keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
