Babar Azam: “I have decided to resign as captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team effective as of my notification to the PCB and Team Management last month.”
Babar Azam was made the captain again in May 2024 before the T20 World Cup. Babar Azam hasn’t had any 50 runs in the last 16 test innings. He had only scored 64 runs in the home series vs Bangladesh. All these factors along with the extra pressure made Babar to resign from his role for the second time in one year.
Babar Azam was made to resign before in November 2023. Babar Azam on Tuesday announced that he was stepping down from the white-ball captaincy, saying that it was time for him to focus on his playing role and personal growth.
Babar Azam spoke on his duty as captain, saying that while it has been a gratifying experience, it has also imposed a significant workload. “I want to prioritise my performance, enjoy my batting, and spend quality time with my family, which brings me joy,” the batsman said.
“By stepping down, I will gain clarity moving forward and focus more energy on my game and personal growth,” Babar said in a letter.
The star hitter expressed his gratitude for the support, saying he is pleased to continue contributing to the squad as a player. Now the question arises who will be the captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket team?
