The Panthers reached their target of 138 runs in the 24th over to reach the finals of the Champions Cup 2024, with Usman Khan smashing an unbeaten fifty.
Saim Ayub and Umar Siddiq scored 33 and 35 runs respectively from the top order. Lake City Panthers now became the first team to reach the Champions Cup 2024 finals.
Earlier, part-timer Saim Ayub’s five-wicket haul helped the Panthers prevent Markhors from compiling a huge score in the Champions Cup 2024 opening qualifier.
The Mohammad Rizwan-led side was bowled out for 137 in 36 overs, with only middle-order batsmen Salman Ali Agha and Iftikhar Ahmed producing standout performances.
To lift the team out of its predicament, Agha and Iftikhar combined for 77 runs. However, because they were removed in short succession, tail-enders were rendered impotent.
Mohammad Hasnain grabbed three wickets, and Ali Raza claimed one. Muhammad Hasnain is now the leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets to his name.
Eliminator 1 of the Champions Cup 2024 will be played on Wednesday, September 25, between the Allied Bank Stallions and the Nurpur Lions. The four clubs, Markhors, Panthers, Stallions, and Lions, finished first, second, third, and fourth on the points table following the 10-match single league round from September 12 to 22 at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
Dolphins finished fifth and last in the tournament, having won only one of their four matches.
