The Pakistan legends are yet to be beaten in the World Champions League. They now have four wins out of four.
Pakistan Legends outclassed England by 79 runs in the tenth match of the World Championship of Legends 2024 at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. After defeating Australia, the West Indies, and India earlier in the campaign, Pakistan have now won four times.
Earlier, Pakistan scored 196/4 when England requested that they bat first. Early losses for Pakistan legends came from Kamran Akmal and Sharjeel Khan who scored 11 & 13 respectively.
However, Sohaib Maqsood and Shoaib Malik’s 121-run partnership set the stage for Pakistan to score a large total. Malik scored 33 balls 51 while Maqsood scored 44 balls 64.
Abdul Razzaq scored 9 balls 20*, while captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who is guiding the team in Younis Khan, came up with 14 balls 23*. With statistics of 2/25, Meaker proved to be England’s best bowler in the end.
While defending a target of 197 runs, Pakistan managed to grab an early wicket against England skipper Kevin Pietersen.
Phil Mustard held one end in the interim to keep England in the game. Ian Bell (#11) was the second player out as a result of Yasir Arafat’s runout.
As Mustard (34) attempted to speed, he went out, and Shoaib Malik clean-bowled Kevin O’Brien (24).
No other batsman was able to find success since Pakistan was routinely picking up wickets. Against England, Wee bowled out for 117 runs.
Abdul Razzaq scored two, and Saeed Ajmal scored three. Sohail Khan, Aamer Yamin, and Shoaib Malik all claimed a wicket.
The top four teams will qualify for the Semifinals with Pakistan legends already in the semis. The WI and SA legends are at 5th and 6th spot respectively.
