Azhar Mahmood further said that by playing an all-seam attack, one can see we were not expecting a flat Rawalpindi wicket. It took us all by surprise.
Azhar Mahmood is the assistant coach of Pakistan. Pakistan is currently playing its first home test match against Bangladesh. At the end of the third day of play, the Assistant Coach addressed the press conference that the Rawalpindi Pitch took us all by surprise.
After 28 years Pakistan had gone with an all-pace attack in test cricket. Azhar Mahmood, the assistant coach said that we prepared the wicket with grass on it that would help all the machinery, the pacer, the spinners, and would engage the viewers too. But so far, over 800 runs have been scored in the Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test Match.
Azhar Mahmood’s Statement
“Anyone who looked at the wicket would have thought it would be a seaming track. We can’t do anything about the fact it didn’t behave that way we didn’t make a mistake reading the pitch, it just didn’t play like we thought it should.”
